(Boonyumba Studio)

Welcome to Boomyumba Studio.

From the moment Merilyn could hold a pencil she loved to draw and paint. Merilyn studied at the East Sydney Tech and later worked in advertising with Guy Warren and Bryce Courtenay. Later Merilyn studied at the Catholic Teacherís college where she was taught ceramics by a master potter.† She now uses three mediums, oil, pastel and clay to create her own unique art.

After graduating from Teacherís College Merilyn taught art in Sydney High Schools.† One of her now famous pupils was Ben Quilty, 2011 winner of the Archibald Prize.

Merilyn moved to the Gulgong/Mudgee district in 1991 and taught art in local schools while establishing herself as an artist of note in the mid west.† She paints around the district while enjoying her travelling painting trips twice a year and puts the finishing touches to her on-location work in her Yarrawonga studio.† Merilyn works in oil, pastel, clay and photographic imaging.

Merilynís art works have been hung in prestigious exhibitions including the Blake Prize, Willoughby Art Prize, Laxus Mortimore Prize and the Equine Art Prize and included in many private collections in Australia, UK, Germany and USA. Merilynís pastel work has also been reproduced in Artistís Palette.
